Numu Kitchens (Pty) Ltd is a bespoke joinery atelier based at No. 13, 3rd Street, Montague Gardens, Cape Town. In this policy, "Numu", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Numu Kitchens (Pty) Ltd. For the purposes of POPIA, Numu is the responsible party that determines why and how your personal information is processed.

Information we collect
We collect only what we need to design, quote, build and support your project — and to run our business responsibly.
Why we process it
We process personal information for clearly defined purposes and only for as long as those purposes require.
Our lawful basis
Under POPIA we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; the performance of a contract with you; compliance with a legal obligation; the protection of a legitimate interest of yours; or the pursuit of our own legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Where processing depends on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Sharing & transfers
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary — with suppliers and installation partners, service providers (accounting, payment, IT, hosting and analytics, including Microsoft), professional advisers, and authorities where legally obliged. Some providers may process information on servers outside South Africa; where information is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure comparable protection to that required under POPIA.
Retention & security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard it against loss, unauthorised access, alteration and disclosure, and will notify you and the Information Regulator of a compromise where the law requires it.

Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising. Managing & duration

Numu Kitchens processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Personal information given to Numu is given in trust — collected only where needed, kept only as long as necessary, and protected throughout. Your rights & requests
You may exercise any of these rights by contacting our Information Officer: to be informed, to access, to correct, to object (including to direct marketing), to withdraw consent, and to complain.

PAIA Notice

The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA) gives effect to the right of access to information. It allows any person to request access to a record held by a private body where that record is required to exercise or protect a right. Numu Kitchens (Pty) Ltd is a private body for the purposes of PAIA. This is a summary; the complete PAIA Manual, prepared under section 51, is available free of charge from our Information Officer.

The categories of records we keep in the ordinary course of business include the following. Access is subject to the request procedure and the grounds for refusal set out in PAIA.
Refusal & fees
PAIA sets out circumstances in which we must or may refuse access — for example, to protect the privacy of a third party, commercially sensitive information, or records subject to legal privilege. Where we refuse, we will give reasons and explain your right to challenge the decision.
A request fee may be payable before a request is processed, and an access fee may be payable to cover searching, preparing and reproducing the record, as prescribed under PAIA. Requests by a person for their own personal information do not attract a request fee.
How to request a record
The procedure below follows PAIA. Our Information Officer will guide you through each step.
Complete the form
Ask our Information Officer for the prescribed PAIA request form, and set out the record you need and the right you are seeking to exercise or protect.
Send it to us
Return the completed form to our Information Officer by email or at our Montague Gardens address, together with the request fee where one applies.
We consider it
We assess the request against PAIA, including any grounds for refusal, and advise you of any access fee. We aim to respond within 30 days, as the Act allows.
Decision & access
We grant or refuse access and give reasons. If you are not satisfied, PAIA gives you the right to complain to the Information Regulator or to approach a court.
